I take it you mean core AND prophecies skills.

To stop the original Planes ectosin they added in Mindflay Specters who had Signet of Disenchantment. It was a stopgap and they are historical content now...but this isn't the first time they went outside of core/proph down there.

I am aware of that and when they removed them I believe they also said one of the reasons was because they had non-core (and non-prophecies, sorry for the mistype in earlier post) skills they felt did not fit with the intention of the uw. (not to mention if they use starburst and death's charge they are mixing professions, which I believe, has never been done in the uw before).

Removing a non-core skill from a core area because it 'didn't fit with the intention of UW', yet still enabling Shadow Form to run rampant in UW, making players able to clear an Elite area in ~15 mins. Anet needs to get their priorities straight.

I don't see anything wrong with having Faction skills in UW since I believe UW can be accessed from Factions...

How is this a problem? Dead Threshers use Feast of Corruption, which is a Prophecies (not Core) skill, and Smite Crawlers use Shield of Judgement, which is also a Prophecies skill.

Because a Spirit Spammer can't complete the entirety of the UW under 15 mins, in Hardmode.
